Although most people you know now look like they don’t wield a lot of power, they are people whose character and dependability you know well. They are people who will get places over time and be able to create new connections for you. Continue to cultivate these relationships, and join the alumni association. Join the Alumni Association and look at the communications they send you. See if there is anyone among the alumni who does what you may be interested in doing.
Similarly, cultivate your relationships with the faculty. Both faculty and alumni are your professional colleagues. Their word on your behalf may mean the difference between getting a foot in the door at the exact place where you want to be, and not being considered at all.
